Life JOY Therapy is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. 

To the extent that we may collect or use information in the course of doing business, we will ensure that all steps are taken to ensure that your personal information is used only for the purposes set out in our privacy policy.

We will only use your personal information to offer you our services and to facilitate payment for such services. We may also disclose your personal information where we are required or permitted to do so by law.

We will not send nor solicit unencrypted email correspondence with highly sensitive personal information such as credit card data. We will ensure that our computer networks are equipped with firewalls, networks are password protected and files containing your personal information are only accessible by those who require them for the delivery of our services.

Website

Statistic tools are used to collect information on www.lifejoytherapy.com.

This information includes, but is not limited to: date and time of visit, browser name and version, IP address, and referring website, and is used for evaluating and further developing the site.

No personal data is collected in this way.

Any "Personal Information" collected is used exclusively by Life JOY Therapy and we will not sell or otherwise pass on your personal information to any third party, unless required to do so by law or as one of the exceptions listed in the "Therapy" section. 

Therapy

Information will not be shared without your informed consent.

However, there are several important exceptions, required by law, that apply to your confidentiality, which are as follows:

  1. To receive supervision.

  2. Inform Children's Aid Society if a child, under the age of 18, is at risk of experiencing neglect and/or abuse.

  3. If you are in danger of harming yourself.

  4. If you are intending to harm someone else.

  5. If your file is subpoenaed to court.

 

Records 

Therapists in Ontario are required by law to keep a record of each contact and therapy session with a client.

Records are kept for a minimum of 7 years after a client turns 18 years of age.

Your personal information is protected by specific safeguards, including locked cabinets and computer passwords.

You may request a copy of your records for a reasonable fee.

Please note that records cannot be released when they contain the name of another person, and that reports from other professionals cannot be released without the consent of that professional. 

 

Personal Information

All information is maintained in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) of the Federal Government of Canada and the Personal Health Information and Protection Act (PHIPA) of the Province of Ontario.

All personal information obtained, used, and disclosed in therapy sessions will be done so with your consent (unless an exception from the above section entitled "Therapy").
